The Young Creatives (14yrs – 17yrs)
Rue14 Studies is dedicated to empowering teens to make healthy choices through life-skills and theater education; we therefore created The Young Creatives Leadership Program specially designed for teenagers. These classes take place on Saturdays, Midterm, Easter, Summer & Christmas holidays. During the last week of camp, the Young Creatives will be placed at a company in their industry of choice. They will be assessed on their willingness to work, contribution and work ethic. This will also be useful on their college application.
At The Young Creatives, we:
• Welcome and encourage students to interact and network with other students with similar interests.
• We use theater techniques to teach life skills
• Provide an innovative and challenging learning environment through hands-on simulations and workshops with some of Nigeria’s most creative minds
• Advise and facilitate students’ transitions into collegiate life and build a foundation for their academic career with our 1 week internship
• Present opportunities to examine future career paths through exclusive field trips and prominent guest speakers.
• Introduce students to the qualities and skills needed for effective leadership.
• Provide a safe and fun environment for all our students
• The students gain self confidence, self value and self esteem
What does the Young Creative Workshop entail?
• Talks with inspiring motivational speakers, life coaches & professionals in various industries
• Interesting discussions on a wide variety of teen-related topics
• Fun, interactive small-group sessions
• Lots of team-building and life-building activities
What will teens gain from the experience?
They gain self-awareness, confidence, stronger communication and leadership skills, and life-long friendships. Students return home more open-minded, motivated, and inspired to give back to their family, school and community.
Why does this type of theater program matter for teens? These programs will fulfill our mission by bringing theatre into the community as a means to supplement the conventional school curriculum and enhance their cultural awareness by giving teens with more advanced-level interest an outlet for their creativity, and finally educating youth on all aspects of theater.
